Our new utensils are made from TPLA 70% non-GMO PLA and 30% talc. They are also heat resistant up to 200 degrees F, are certified under ASTM-6400 standards, and they have also been certified by BPI. These utensils will take 120+ days to compost in a commercial composting facility. Home composting is not recommended and it may take 1-2 yrs to compost in a home composting system.

Q:  What is PLA?
A:  Polylactic acid or polylactide (PLA) is a biodegradable, thermoplastic, aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch (in the U.S.) or sugarcanes (rest of world). Although PLA has been known for more than a century, it has only been of commercial interest in recent years, in light of its biodegradability.
