Collect Rain Water to use on the Garden and Flowers. Saves money and helps keep your garden watered and happy with the type of water it deserves -- straight from the sky. We use re-purposed barrels from right here in Michigan. A complete Rain Barrel has a piece to connect to your existing rain spout. So that no debris gets through, there is a screen the water has to pass through before entering the barrel. Overflowing is not an issue with the overflow spout toward the top of the barrel which can also be used to connect a hose to another barrel. At the bottom is a faucet that connects to a regular water hose.

Rainwater collection from roofs can be calculated using the following formulas:

• 1 inch of rain on a 1,000 square feet (93 m2) roof yields 623 gallons of water; or
• 1 cubic foot equals (12 inch by 12-inch (300 mm) by 12-inch (300 mm) cube) equals 7.48 gallons; or
• 1 millimeter of rain on a 1 square meter surface yields 1 litre of water.
